After failed tryouts with the San Antonio Spurs & New York Knicks, former NBA All Star & Scoring Champion Tracy McGrady’s days away from finalising a contract with the Qingdao Double Star Eagles in the Chinese Basketball Association.
He will form the Qingdao “big three” along with former Memphis Grizzlies guard Lester Hudson & Nigerian Olympic Team member Olumide Oyedeji.
Sources told Yahoo! that T-Mac will be finalising the contract in the next couple of days & leaving for China within the next two weeks.
T-Mac’s time playing at the Houston Rockets with Yao Ming & his multiple promotional trips to the country has made him one of the most popular Basketball players in China & the move looks like it could be a lucrative one for him. The 33 year old averaged a career low 5.3ppg last season with the Atlanta Hawks.
Much like JR Smith, Patty Mills & Kenyon Martin did last year, a decent season in the CBA could see him pick up a contract for the Veterans Minimum with a contender come the end of the CBA season in March.
Some notable players that T-Mac will come up against this season is NBA All Star Steph Marbury (Beijing Ducks), 2xNBA Champion Josh Powell (Liaoning Dinosaurs) & #believethehype’s least favourite basketballer Wang Zhizhi (Bayi Rockets).
China would also be seen as a good growth market for T-Mac’s online startup business.
