The Brooklyn Nets have finally played their first game in their shiny new home on Atlantic Avenue.
The announced crowd of 14,219 was roughly 3,500 short of a sellout. The atmosphere started off pretty quiet & standoff-ish… There were even moments of absolute silence in the first half. The atmosphere picked up as the game continued on & the Nets brought themselves into a good contest.
The loudest that the crowd was during the game was for the minor tussle between Deron Williams & New York Native AJ Price.
Price, after taking a cheap shot from former Wizards laughing stock Andray Blatche, returned the favour with a hard foul on Williams. He then began to trash talk by stating “I’m Home”…
Williams hit back by saying, “It’s my home now.”
It was game-set-match D-Will in the press conference when he said that “He had some boys in the crowd he wanted to impress while he can, with the little minutes he’s going to get this year.”
“I’m not a tough guy,” Williams continued. “I hate when people talk for no reason, and that’s pretty much what he did.”

All in all, Brooklynites are excited to have pro sports back in their Borough. It’s half a century since the Dodgers left for LA & as Brooklyn’s one of the self-proclaimed “Birthplaces of Basketball”, to have over 14,000 people at a Pre-Season game is a good sign.
Now lets wait & see the Season Opener!
